Storytelling in Tourism
in Lisbon
Enquadramento
In tourism, storytelling can make a difference by inspiring and fostering a deeper understanding of places and people. When the tour guide learns how to tell authentic stories and anecdotes, inviting their clients to feel more engaged, this can transform tourism into a more sustainable and enriching experience for everyone. In Lisbon, this is even more crucial than ever before, as the locals are beginning to feel the unfavourable aspects of tourism, such as overtourism.
Sustainable tourism is not about perfect postcards or glorifying the past. It’s not a "hit and run" experience or a checklist of “been there, done that” moments. It’s about curiosity, connection, empathy, and an openness to truly understand the soul of a place and its people. It starts with telling authentic and inclusive stories that reflect the true essence of the destinations we present.
